New parking provisions for Woodside Road residents

woodside road roadworks

Nottingham City Council is making improvements to the layout of Woodside Road, to allow for additional residential and University Campus parking.

To do this Woodside Road will be reduced to one lane in both directions. Parking bays for residents will be created from Manton Crescent up to Derby Road (A52) in both directions, and pay by phone parking by the University Campus will be installed.

Works are expected to start on 17 July for 5 days. And then from 31 July until the beginning of September 2017.

The works include:

  • Extending all side road entry provisions, to increase visibility and protect parked vehicles
  • Adding residential and pay by phone parking bays
  • Woodside Road becoming a single lane road
  • Extending the approach to the roundabout on Derby Road (A52) to improve traffic flow

Preparation works will commence for 5 days on 17 July. For this, a short section of the lane will be closed (between the hours of 9.30am-3.30pm) on the inbound approach near Derby Road (A52).

The main works will start on 31 July at the Derby Road (A52) end and work along Woodside Road towards University Boulevard. Once this phase is complete, works will continue up the other side of the carriageway from the Broadgate roundabout towards Derby Road (A52).

During the works access to private driveways will always be maintained. Parking may be affected at times and we will contact residents about this if you are affected. The bus stop opposite Audley Drive will move towards Brook Road. Cycles will continue to use footpaths at this time.

Councillor Sally Longford, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Local Transport, said: “The new road layout will be trialled for a period of four months to ensure it functions for all road users.”

“If the new layout works well, these changes will be made permanent in the New Year, and on-road cycle lanes which we have consulted on previously will be created. These lanes will be an extension to the Western Cycle Corridor and link into the Nottingham Enterprise Zone and Boots Campus via the proposed new pedestrian/cycle bridge over the Midland Main Railway line”
